Work is Stoopid

I just don't get this whole work thingy that most of our humans do. Why can't they just stay home and hang out with us all the time. And as if being gone during the day isn't bad enough, my Dad has been going on "business trips" and is gone for days at a time. He doesn't even get to come home at night. Needless to say Dad was on one of these business trips last week which is why I was able to do any blogging. Mom tried to help me one night but she didn't have the right password and I couldn't remember the correct one. So it isn't my fault that I haven't been blogging.

Now to make matters worse, Dad is leaving again on another business trip. This time he is going to some place called Holland. This place is in a whole other dog park across the ocean. He leaves tonight and will not be back till Thursday. Hopefully Mom will be able to help me with my blogging during this time but I can't make any promises.

In other news, I haven't been feeling very well the past few days. Mom says I have sick poops. I'm embarrassed to admit it but I had an accident in the house. I really had to go and Dad was busy with the Dyson creature. I just couldn't hold it any longer. On the good side, I've been getting cottage cheese and ground beef for breakfast and dinner. It is a yummy change of pace. Lares is not happy about this since we have been cut off from all treats till my stomach is better.

I'm not letting my stomach problems slow me down. To make up for his absences, Dad took us to the dog park four times this weekend. I got to play with my husky friend Sabrina and some other pups.

Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

Well actually it should be more like here this morning, gone this afternoon. But beggars can't be chooser and snow is snow. Yes that's right we got snow. From the minute I woke up I knew something special was happening. I was so excited that I forgot myself and jumped in bed with Mom (I'm not allowed in the bed). Dad finally came downstairs to take us for our walk and I could barely contain myself. I keep wooing at him to tell him to move faster.

Finally we got outside and what did I see, wonderful fluffy white snow. Now it wasn't much but at least it was something and it was still falling. So we headed off for our morning walk with an extra spring in our steps. Well Lares and I did, we pretty much had to drag Dad along as he didn't seem too excited. It was so great to feel the snow under my paws. I got to sniff the snow and eat the snow (of course not the yellow snow, cause you know Watch out where the huskies go, and don’t you eat that yellow snow).

Unfortunately our time in the snow was brief and Dad cautioned us not to get too excited cause it would likely be gone by the afternoon. Well sure enough, even though Dad got home early today, the snow was gone. I was upset to say the least but was still grateful to get some snow. And hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.

Here are some pictures of Lares and I this morning in our yard with the newly fallen snow.

New Look

So Dad and I have been messing around with the look of my blog. I was getting a bit tired of the old template. I like this one better but it still isn't quite right. I need to play around with the colors a bit. I might need some help from Dave - Guide Dog for the Color Blind.

I'm a bit tired today cause I got a pretty good beating from Lares during Fight Club last night. Seems he is not too happy about me posting the video of him freaking out on the couch. I think he is most upset about the fact that his supposed girlfriend, Amber of the Ao4 saw it. He is afraid that she will not think he is cute anymore cause of his goofiness.

Now This is an Outrage

Have you checked out Steve & Kat's Blog today. They got snow. First 33 degress in Sandy Egg-O. Now snow in Texas. It's not supposed to snow there. I'm surprised Steve & Kat's mom even has gloves and a hat. Here I am in New Jersey and still no snow. It is finally getting cold in my corner of the dog park, Dad actually wore gloves this morning on our walk. We better get some snow soon or I'm heading to Siberia where my ancestors are from. Does anyone know where it is and how to get there? Cap'n Maverick I might need to borrow your pirate ship.

So I've been waiting for a couple weeks now to post this funny video of my floppy eared doofus of a brother. As you might remember that Lares mentioned in his list of things he didn't want for Christmas, that he does not want any more ear infections. Well here is why:

When Larry and I got home from our Christmas vacation at Camp Bow Wow, Mom noticed that his ear was kind of smelly. Upon further investigation it was determined that he had an ear infection. This isn't the first time this has happened. Since the goofy gobber isn't a real husky and he has stoopid floppy ears, they tend to get infected. So Mom & Dad had to clean out his ear for a couple days with this smelly solution (I'm not sure what smells worse, his infected ear or the smelly cleaning solution) and then put in some medicine. Well Lares is not a big fan of this process. After they are done he tries to rub the stuff out of his ear. Well Dad managed to catch this process on video. Check it out, it is pretty funny.

Well that's it for today, I have to go and do a snow dance.

Stoopid Dad and Why it is a Small World

So my absence from blogging was a bit longer than expected. As I stated in my last post, my Dad had to go away on a business trip for a few days. "Where did he go?" you might ask. He went to Minnesota and Winnipeg, Canada. Do you know what they have in those places? Two very cool things that huskies love:

  1. Cold Weather: especially in Winnipeg where it got down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Snow: yep, that's right, they have snow. In Winnipeg the snow basically doesn't melt all winter, why? cause it is cold there.

So Dad went to these cool (or should I say cold) places and did he bring anything back for me? No. Did he bring back the cold weather? No. Did he bring back any snow? No. Not even a small snowball for me to lick. I know that asking to go along on his business trip was too much but the least he could have done was bring back some snow. Instead I got left at home with the floppy eared doofus, who kept Mom and I up every night with his pathetic whining cause Dad was not home.

Well, Dad finally got home and should have had time to help me with my blog but our family had some very sad news. My Mom's grandpa went across the human equivalent of our Rainbow Bridge. So Mom has been very, very sad and I have had to spend all my time trying to make her feel better. I believe that the best way to do this is by licking her face.

Larry and I got to go to Camp Bow Wow for a day and night so that we would not be in the way. When we got home I could tell that there had been lots of new people in our house and that there was food (I don't even think that I need to mention that I didn't get any).

Still no snow here in New Jersey, in fact it was about 50 degrees this weekend. This is ridiculous for mid-January. My new friend Frodo, who lives in some place called Sandy Egg-O mentioned in his blog that it was 33 degrees in his corner of the dog park. My Dad said that this Sandy Egg-O is supposed to be warm and that it is very rare that it gets that cold. What is going on with this crazy dog park that we call home. 50 degrees in NJ, when it should be 33 degrees (or colder) and 33 degrees in Sandy Egg-O, when it should be 60 degrees (or warmer). I think the stoopid humans are ruining our dog park. I've been resistant to joining the HULA HOOP cause I'm not big on commitment but I'm starting to think that it is necessary for the good of our dog park that we take over control of the world from these stoopid humans. I think I'll take a nap and make a decision later.

So I mentioned our newest Husky Blogger, Mr. Frodo K. Banks. He has a cool new blog and is training to be a husky ninja. I don't know much about this ninja stuff but it seems to me that a husky ninja and a husky pirate should be able to get along just famously. He also has another thing going for him, he is a rescue sibe and was rescued by Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue, which just so happens to be the rescue group that rescued my doofus brother Lares and I was an unofficial TOTTSHR rescue. So as the saying goes "it's a small world".

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

I would like to thank Raisa for making me The Husky Bloggers Ring's featured member of January 2007. It is a great honor to be the first featured member of 2007. Hopefully this is an indication of a great year to come. To think after not blogging for a whole month, I was still picked to be the featured member. Boy if I spent more time blogging just think of where it could get me.

I don't have much time today cause Dad has to leave soon on a business trip. So I have to take time out of my busy schedule to console the floppy eared doofus. He gets very upset when Dad goes away.

I did want to touch briefly on this whole cat issue that has come up recently. I live with two cats, Spencer and Delilah, and although they are a bit strange, (I could list their idiosyncrasies but I just don't have time to do the list justice) they are not all bad. They do seem to be a bit devious and therefore we should keep and eye on them but don't let this keep you from being friends with a cat. As for this whole head butting thing that Zim mentioned in his post yesterday, it is no big deal. Cats just think they own everything and they like to rub themselves on stuff to show you that they own it. Hey its a lot better than lifting your leg on it. Believe me, I've experienced both and I'll take the head butting any day of the week. So in closing here are some pictures of my friends, Spencer and Delilah playing with their Christmas presents.

I don't know if I be able to post with Dad gone, maybe I can convince Mom to help me. If not, I be back on Thursday.

Christmas Past

So during my blogging hiatus, Christmas came and went. I checked out every one's blogs and it seems like you all had a good Christmas with your parents(except for Indy who although his parents were away got to stay with his grandparents). Well my Mom & Dad went away to visit Dad's parents in California for Christmas. Did they take me with them, NO. Did I get to stay with my grandparents, NO (Dad says he would not do that to his in-laws even if he didn't like them). So where did I spend Christmas you might be asking. At Camp Bow Wow, which is a doggie daycare and sleep away camp. Basically I get to play all day with other dogs and then get to sleep in a "cabin" with my floppy eared doofus brother. Now don't get me wrong, I like Camp Bow Wow. Lares and I have been there a couple times before but never for seven days. And it was Christmas, a time when you are supposed to be with your family. So I'm still a bit upset about this treatment. Here are some pictures that Dad got of the web cam, when he was checking up on us.

2006122715145820061227150811

Mom & Dad finally came to pick us up at 11:00 am, keep in mind they got home the night before, if they really cared they would have been there at 6:00 am when the place opened to pick us up. So to add insult to injury, when they got me and the doofus home, they had the nerve to give us bathes. I hate getting a bath so I continueally fight them to try to get out of the bathtub. I figure if I'm gonna get wet then so are they.

Mom & Dad did make it up to us by getting us some cool Christmas presents. Lares got his favorite beef sausage thingy and we got a stuffed basketball (I heard there are some extras for when I destroy this one). My Aunt Allison got me this cool frog with a tennis ball in it. I've already chewed off one of his back legs so that he can't hop as far.

IMG_2122IMG_2121IMG_2120

Well it is about 70 degrees and sunny today here in New Jersey and although I would prefer to have snow, I'm not going to pass up a second trip to the dog park. So that's it for me today. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a chance to comment on this whole CAT epidemic that seems to be the talk of everyones blog.

Tag

So before Christmas I was tagged by both Holly and my new pupster friends Steve & Kat. It is a bit late but I thought I would provide my answers anyways. Since I was tagged twice, I decided to let my floppy eared doofus Lares give his answers also.

Ok, me first.

Things I want for Christmas:

  1. Snow - I know this is an obvious answer but I'm a husky, I need snow.
  2. Stuffed Toys - as you may remember I am a certified Stuffed Toy Killer. Mom & Dad don't like to buy them for me cause I can destroy them in minutes. They complain about not having some thing called a money tree, I don't know what this is but it sounds like a lame excuse to me.
  3. A New Leash and Collar - I'm thinking something in blue like a certain someone wears. I wear red now but Mom thinks that blue would really bring out my eyes (I would have to agree).

Things I do not want for Christmas:

  1. Mom & Dad to go away for Christmas - more on this in my next post.
  2. Stinky Bio Spot Flea & Tick stuff - I hate it so much that I give Mom & Dad the cold shoulder for at least a day after they put it on me.
  3. A Bath - I hate baths almost as much as I hate the Bio Spot stuff.

And now for The Doofus:

Hey everyhusky and everydog, Lares here. Althea said that I could play along on the Christmas tag thing but first I would like to say a special hello to Amber of the Ao4. She left a nice comment on one of Althea's posts about how cute I am. I just wanted to say thank you. I guess me and my annoying sister have one thing in common, we both like redheads, cause I think that Amber is beautiful, wooooooo.

Things I want for Christmas:

  1. Cheese - I love cheese, all kinds of cheese. I would like a big wheel of cheese or ten.
  2. Attention - I want all of Mom & Dad's attention. I don't want to have to share them with the hyena girl anymore.
  3. New Bed - Before Althea showed up I had my own big bed in Mom & Dad's room. Mind you Althea has her own bed which is smaller since it was for her crate and she is smaller than me. Since Althea doesn't have to stay in the crate anymore, she steals my bed every night and I have to sleep on the small bed, which is just too small for a sibermute like me.

Things I do not want for Christmas:

  1. Another ear infection - I have have one now and I hate them.
  2. Dad to go away on any more business trips ever again.
  3. Another annoying sister.

Alright enough nonsense from The Doofus. I hope you enjoyed our Christmas wants and don't wants. I will not tag anyone since we are way behind on this one.

Well that's it for today. Stop by tomorrow for more. Dad is going to be home from work cause he has a job interview in the morning. I'll have to make sure his suit is nicely covered in husky fur before he goes.

Hi My Name is Althea (in case you forgot)

MERRY CHRISTMAS
&
HAPPY NEW YEAR
(better late than never)

That's right, its me, your favorite blue eyed, red/white Siberian Husky, Althea (okay, maybe I'm not your favorite but I should be). It has been nearly a month since my last post and I hope that all my friends out there will remember me and come back to my blog. I know what your saying, "Althea, you promised to blog more often". I know, I know, I promised but lets be honest, I'm a husky, you can't believe everything that I say. I really don't have any excuse for my extended hiatus except that I'm a husky, I'm lucky my attention span lasts long enough for me to eat my dinner. Fellow husky bloggers, you know what I'm talking about. It's just hard to concentrate on one thing for any length of time.

Well that being said, you haven't missed much due to my lack of blogging. However I did miss something very important, Zim's Birthday. So I would like to wish "The Cutest Boy Husky in the World" a very happy belated birthday.

I did tell Zim that I would be posting yesterday but I just didn't feel like it for two reasons:

  1. Lares: boy is he a doofus. He'll lift his leg and pee on anything and everything (including me and Cousin Riley) but he is the pickiest pooper in the world. See Lares will not just go outside and poop. He has to take a walk around the block to find a good spot to go. When it rains, Dad doesn't usually take us for a walk, something about too much wet dog hair (doesn't seem to bother him when he is giving me a bath). So we just go potty on our lawn. I have no problem doing my business on our lawn, Lares on the other hand just holds his poop. So it rained on Monday and Lares didn't do his morning or evening poops. He then proceeded to whine all night until Dad finally got up a 3 am to take him outside. So Reason #1: I was tired.
  2. Dad: he annoyed me but putting stinky Bio Spot Flea & Tick stuff on my back. I don't like it. It really annoys me for some reason. So I had act like I was sick and upset with him for the rest of the night. When he said "Althea do you want to go blog", I sighed and laid my cute little head down. So Reason #2: I was annoyed.

So I'm feeling much better today and here is a quick summary of my activities since my last post.

  • NO SNOW. That's right, it is January and I have yet to see a single snow flake. This is just ridiculous. It is in the 50's today and will likely hit 60 on Saturday. Unacceptable. I need snow, I'm a husky for pete's sake.
  • TOO LITTLE TIME AT THE DOG PARK. You may remember my rant about stoopid daylight savings, which completely interfers with going to the dog park after Dad gets home from work. Well this is a stoopid trend that has continued. We only get to go on the weekend. Fortunately Dad usually takes us in the morning and the evening on Saturday and Sunday. The evening is better cause more of my friends are there. The dogs that go in the morning tend to be weenies (Dad doesn't like there parents either). Dad did tell me that since we passed the Winter Solstice the days are getting longer from here on out. So hopefully soon we can go to the dog park everyday, yeah!
  • ANNOYING LARRY THE DOOFUS DOG - he can be such a weenie (see above).
  • TASTING MY FELINE BROTHER SPENCER - Mom calls him an oven stuffer roaster cause sometimes he looks like a turkey when he sits in a certain position. So I figured and would see what he tastes like. I usually do this when Mom & Dad aren't looking but they always seem to find out (something about him being wet from drool).

I've got lots more to report but I figure that is enough for now. I don't want to run out of things to blog about. It's good to be back.

Althea

Snow & Eating Your Vegetables

Firstly, I know that once again I have been lax in updating my blog, I really have no excuse other than that it is tough work beating up my whiny brother all the time. I really know how my buddy, Turbo feels having to deal with his brother Lex. It is such a demanding job that it leaves little time for posting.

So let me say how jealous I am of my fellow Husky Bloggers out there that got snow recently. I especially like to welcome Macie & Malechai to the wonderful world of snow. Sounds like they got a great introduction with 13 or so inches of the great white stuff. Now I would appreciate it if those of you that did get snow would stop taunting the rest of us with this fact. It's just not fair. At least we have finally been getting to that special temperature that allows the snow to fall. After 60 - 70 degree weather, it has finally gotten cold in my corner of the dog park. In celebration (and anticipation) here are some pictures of Lares (aka floppy eared doofus) and I playing in the snow last year.

So my buddy Indy posted a picture of the great food that he gets to eat. Doofus and I were way jealous (boy with all this jealousy it is a wonder I haven't turned green with envy) about this great food he gets to eat. We eat the same stuff day in and day out. Except we do occassionaly get a cool treat. Tonight, Mom & Dad were preparing something called a pot roast for their dinner tomorrow, which we will not get any of (if recent history continues to hold true). We did however get some carrots. I love carrots. Doofus didn't like carrots before until he saw me eating one. Now pansy boy has to eat them to. Dad got some fun videos of us crunching our carrots. So here they are. Our feline sister, Delilah, can be heard in meowing in Lares' video and she even makes a cameo in mine. Fortunately Dad missed the part where she takes a swipe at my tail.

Substitute Blogger

It's me Lares, Althea's smarter, cuter, better behaved older brother here. Althea mentioned in her blog yesterday that she was going to "allow" me to post on her blog. What she doesn't realize is that if I want to post on her blog, I will go ahead and do it, I don't need her permission. Besides if I wanted my own blog all I have to do is ask my Dad. He loves me best, so he'll do anything I ask, except get rid of that brat Althea. I try to remind him how great it was when it was just the two of us but he will not get rid of her. Oh well (sigh).

Regardless, the pain in the neck is not feeling very well today. Mom said that she had "sick poops". So I thought I would fill in for her today. Dad is home with us and he is keeping an eye on her cause she has been acting a little funny since last night. I think it is all just an act since Mom & Dad were not paying enough attention to her but we'll see.

So as Althea said, I wanted to share some fun pictures of me from last Turkey Day. Dad stumbled upon them when Mom suggested that he look at last years pics to see exactly how he cooked the Turkey (he does on the charcoal grill outside). So Dad checked the pictures to see if he used a rack for the turkey and found some cool pics of me and a special guest we had. As Althea has probably told you, our Mom is a teacher of little humans. Last year her class was reading a book about a stuffed bear named Corduroy. Along with the book the class has a Corduroy teddy bear, which each little human gets to take home for a weekend and then write about their adventures with him. Well Mom got to bring Corduroy home of the Turkey Day weekend. Since little humans love us dogs, Mom took some pictures of me and Corduroy hanging out together. So here are my cool pics for you to enjoy. Aren't I cute. Notice that there aren't any pictures of the hyena, Althea. If you remember from one of her previous posts, this is what happens to stuffed toys in our house.

In other news, the awesome rescue group that saved me and brought me to my furever home, Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue, has published their annual calender. And guess what, I'm in it. Yep that's right there is a small picture of me on the page for January 2008. I know what your thinking, "more than a whole year is a long time to wait to be able to look at such a handsome dog as myself" but be assured there are tons of other great husky pictures to tide you over until January 2008 (or you could just skip ahead, no one will blame you). It is just a small picture of me since Dad was remiss in sending them any new pics of me. But at least it is something. After my big debut in the 2005 calender where I had a hole page picture with my foster brother, Guinness. I wasn't even in the 2006 calender. So a small pic is better than no pic.

So 2006 is nearly over and you will need a new calender for 2007, so why not make it a calender with a bunch of great rescued Siberian Huskies. Not only will you get a great calender but you will be helping homeless huskies have a chance at finding their furever homes. Just click here and order one or ten, they make great gifts.

Well that's it for now. Hopefully Althea will be feeling better later and will be able to post some of her words of wisdom (snicker, words of wisdom my furry butt).

Peace,
Larry the Dog

Not So Thankful

Well, they did it to me again. Mom & Dad have been too busy to help me with my blog. Unfortunately I need their help with the typing as I don't really know how. I've heard mention of a husky friendly keyboard but I haven't been able to find one on the Internet, not even on eBay where you can buy all kinds of Crap.

So as I mentioned Mom & Dad have been too busy to help me. Mom was busy with report cards and parent conferences for the little humans that she teaches. On a good note I did find out that my "team" of little humans won the competition that my Mom does at school to keep the little humans from being bad (hope she doesn't get any crazy ideas to try to make me be good). Here is a picture of the Team Althea and Team Lares scorecards. There are also ones for my feline siblings, Spencer and Delilah. Notice how just like my buddy Turbo says, humans love pictures of us sleeping. Of course that is because it is hard to catch me when I'm awake.

Dad was busy with work and had to make a quick and unwanted trip to France for work. Too bad he didn't know about Stormy's French Lessons at SZK SSS, they would have come in handy for his trip. Fortunately for Mom and me it was a quick trip cause Lares tends to get rather depressed when Dad is away. I mean he mopes around enough when Dad is home, you should see him when Dad leaves to go to the store or for a run. Here is a picture of him looking sad and pathetic one morning when Dad left to go to work.

Well Dad made it home the day before Turkey Day and Mom finished up all her conferences, so I figure that they would be prepared to spend some quality time with me. But no, they had to get everything ready for Turkey Day. Dad got home from his trip and out came the dreaded dyson creature and his other implements of cleaning and went to work. Mom got home and started cooking up some good smelling stuff. So I figured "Okay, maybe they don't have time to spend with me but at least I'll get some good food". Wrong. This picture shows how Lares and I spent most of Turkey Day (you might recognize this pic from my after Howloween post, when we received similar treatment). Dad said that he didn't want us around the table, begging while everyone was trying to eat. If he didn't want me around the table, begging all he had to do was give me a turkey leg and I would have left everyone alone but no such luck.

So needless to say, I am not very thankful about how I was treated on Turkey Day. In addition I didn't get any turkey, or stuffing or mashed potatoes. I did get a little taste of the pumpkin desert stuff but not nearly enough to make me thankful. They only good thing that has come out of Turkey Day is that Mom & Dad did not have to go to work for a couple days. Dad is still home with us until Thursday. So we have been able to go to the dog park and stuff.

Well that's it for for now. Be sure to check back as I promise to post more often in the coming days. I've already got some ideas for future posts. I did promise Lares that he could make a post or two. He has some pics from last years Turkey Day that he wants to post and some information on where to get a really cool husky calender (he thinks it is cool because he is in it), so check back today as he might get around to it later.

Sunday, November 12, 2006

Hey everyhusky and everydog, Althea here. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. It's pretty warm here in the Garden State, about 70 F. A bit warm for my liking but I don't let it get me down.

Mom and I had another great day together on Friday. We were so busy that we didn't have a chance to blog about it. Mom did some work and stuff and I pretty much followed her around the house. This makes her feel good and think that I really love her (which I do of course). She even took me running again, what fun. Dad got home from work early so we all went to the dog park.

Saturday was a good day too. Two trips to the "DP", that's what Mom & Dad call it when they don't want us to know that they are talking about it. Of course we know what they are talking about but we pretend not to understand. It's good to keep the humans thinking that they are the smarter species. It makes them feel better about themselves.

Looks like we'll only have one trip to the "DP" today. Dad took us in the morning. It was boring, no one wanted to run with me. So I decided to play with a tennis ball a little. I only do this when I'm really bored at the park. Everyone comments that I play like a cat. I like to pounce on the ball so that it shots away from me so that I can chase. Once I catch it I repeat the process till I get bored, which is typically pretty quick as I don't have much of an attention span.

So Lares and I have been punishing Mom & Dad for leaving us home alone on Friday and Saturday night. Typically when they are out late, they've been drinking adult beverages, which usually make them want to sleep late the next morning. So Lares & I have decided that 7 am on Saturday and Sunday is an excellent time for Fight Club. Between Lares' Chewbacca impression and the sound of our nails raking across the bamboo mat that they have on the floor, it is a very effect means of getting them out of bed. Needless to say they are both a bit cranky today.

Speaking of cranky, the doofus is really being a big pansy lately. He slides down the stair once and now he will not go down the stairs without Mom or Dad's help. He'll stay up stairs and whine until some one helps him down. What a doofus. Mom is talking about putting carpet on the stairs so that sissy boy will stop falling down them. I'm ok with this as the stairs can be a bit dangerous for us huskies. This way with carpet on them, I'll be able to run down them real fast and not worry about falling.

A couple quick items before I go:

  • Zim - thank you for taking care of the dyson creature for me. I think you finally put it in its place. When Dad brought him out today it keep its distance from me.
  • Amber - cats really aren't all that bad. It is a bit ridiculous that there is a Little Kitten Avenue near your house and no Doggie Drive or Sibe Street as well.
  • Opy - it is a bit crazy that all of our homes have been invaded by the dreaded dyson creature. The guy who invented it must be super rich. I wish my Dad could invent something cool and make lots of money.
  • Poseidon - I can only speak for Lares and myself, but we head straight out of the room as soon as the dyson creature comes out to play. I don't know if I'm brave enough to have it "vacuum" me.
  • Zack - My Mom & Dad are great. I'm sure your awesome foster mom will find you a home just as good as Lares and I have. I'll keep checking the Harnessed to Hope Northern Breed Rescue's Foster Dog Blog to see how your search goes.

So I've been noticing that a lot of you dogs out there have been taking your blogs a step further and instead of just posting pictures your posting videos. I think this is way cool. So I figured I would jump on the bandwagon. Here is a video of Lares & I having a little Fight Club meeting. Enjoy.

Later,
Althea

Girls Just Want to Have Fun

So as you know from my previous post, me and my brother got to stay home with mom today. This is a pretty rare occurrence, and to be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect. I had my suspicions at first that this was just going to be an ordinary day of sleeping, eating stuff that I know I am not supposed to (Dad thinks I don't know any better; boy is he dumb), and torturing the doofus and maybe the cats if I was feeling up to it. After a morning of watching mom do work, things took a turn for the worse. The cleaning began, and out came... the dyson creature!! I knew immediately that something was wrong! Surely dad was the only one crazy enough to go near it! But no, mom was attempting to use it. I tried to talk her out of it, but I was afraid of the bad words she was yelling (at the creature, not me). It was at that moment that I knew things were going to be okay! As it turns out, mom hates the dyson creature just as much as I do! She explained to me that sometimes we have to do things (or go near creatures) we don't like in order to make someone else happy. Really I am only out to please myself, so mom had to explain this to me a few times. Maybe I will work on this, but probably not.

So after mom and I had our girl talk about the yellow monster and trying to make dad happy, we had to have another talk. This one turned out to to have a much happier ending- that is, one that benefited me! Mom explained that seeing as she liked eating a lot (like me), but didn't like the new butt she'd gotten because of it, we were going to go running!! You can all imagine my excitement! Dad wouldn't take me, but mom was going to! You can imagine the whooping and hollering I did when I found out. I didn't even make mom play "lasso the husky!" The best part was that the doofus had to stay home. I bet he missed me!

So we were off! And just like Forest Gump, we were running, and running... until this lady was blocking our path on the sidewalk. Much to my dismay, we had to stop. It turns out that she was driving her car and saw me, and just had to stop for a husky greeting. I didn't feel much like greeting her, I just wanted to run. But mom made me stop and be nice. When I realized that she was raving about my beauty, you can bet I stuck around to hear it all. I felt bad though because she had a husky for twenty years, but he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. I was sad, so I gave her a Husky kiss. And then I was off again!

As if my day couldn't have gotten any better, mom took me and the doofus to the park later in the afternoon! I can't wait until tomorrow! Haroooo!!

Hello Again

Hey everyhusky and everydog, it's me your old pal Althea (that's Dread Dog Pirate Althea Red Eye to you pirating dogs). Well it has been some time since my last post, I'll get to the reasons for that later. But first I would like to thank M&M for leaving a comment on my blog today to check to make sure I was ok. Thanks guys, I glad to report that everything is A OK.

So as to my not posting in over a week, I blame it on my Dad. You see he and Mom have been rather busy lately. I can't blame it on Mom cause at least she is busy for a good reason, teaching the little humans. I'm not sure what Dad's excuse is, I thinkg he is just lazy. I'm luck I was even able to post my Evilest Picture on Howloween. Speaking of Howloween, what a let down. Just like Dakota mentioned in her blog, the floppy eared doofus and I were tricked with a treat into a confined area. Here is a picture of us on Howloween night. We didn't even get to lick the chocolate off of any little human's faces.

Well Howloween was my last post, since then Mom & Dad have been too busy with one thing or another to help me with my blog. This past Saturday Mom was gone all day shopping and didn't bring me back a thing for me, how rude. I mean I'm a girl too, I like clothes and stuff to make me pretty. On Sunday Mom & Dad went to "The City" to see a friend of theirs run in something called a Marathon. I've never heard of this but I don't see what the big deal is, us Sibes could do that without breaking a sweat. We were born to run long distances.

So after seeing this marathon thing, Dad has decided that he needs to start running. He finally quit the stoopid burning sticks and thinks that he now needs to "get in shape" (good luck fatso). So he has not had time to help me with my blog. Now Dad knows all about my love of running so you would think he would take me with him but no, he says that I would be too much of a pain in the butt during his run, stopping to smell everything and stuff. I think he is just afraid that I would out do him. So instead I've been left behind with nothing to do but beat up on The Doofus. He is a picture of me putting the smack down on the Goofy Goober.

I am very excited about the next two days since my Mommy will be home from work. Dad was going to be home too but he has stoopid stuff to do at work and so he can't stay home with us. Hopefully Mom will not be too busy with her school stuff to pay attention to me. Mom even asked Dad if he could leave the Siberian Utility Vehicle (SUV) so that she can take us to the dog park (yeah). Mom and Dad try to keep the husky furry confined to only one vehicle. Here is a picture of the "SUV" from the big snow storm we had last February. I sure hope we have snow like that this winter. If you look real close at the "SUV" you can see the cool sibe sticker.

Well I think that is it for today. Maybe Mom will help me blog tomorrow.

I'm Gonna Bite Him in the Butt

Well Mom & Dad are back home. I'm a bit angry cause Dad promised they would be home on Sunday in time to take me to the dog park. Well he lied and they didn't get home till after dark. So no dog park at all this weekend. Some lame excuse about a 4 hour delay due to wind. Too bad they didn't have Ao4's Weather Controller, they could have made it not windy in NJ and gotten home in time to take me to the dog park. I'm pretty sure that I missed a Leaf Tornado.

I did have fun with my Cousin Riley. My Aunt Allison takes very good care of us when she comes to visit. She even helped me with my blog on Saturday. Mom & Dad enjoyed their trip to Memphis. They didn't get to see The King, but they did have a good time at the wedding and they had a great time seeing all their friends from college. Dad is complaining about being tired and sick. I'm pretty sure that it is due to staying up too late and drinking too many Adult Beverages. Regardless of how angry I am, it is good to have my Mommy & Daddy home to take care of me.

And now I will explain the title of today's blog, "I'm Gonna Bite Him in the Butt". So Mom & Dad get home on Sunday. Monday morning I'm getting a little excited cause it is starting to get light out and Mom & Dad are still sleeping, so I think maybe they took the day off to stay home with me and make up for Abandoning me. Eventually the dreaded alarm clock goes off and Dad gets up. He takes The Doofus and I for our morning walk. Lately it has been pretty dark out (Dad has to bring along a flashlight to pick up our poops) but this morning it was sort of light out. So we went about our business and Mom & Dad left for work. As the day progressed it started getting dark out and Dad wasn't home yet. By the time he got home it was pretty dark and he needed his flashlight for our walk. I just figured that he was a bit late getting home and so we couldn't go to the dog park. Well the same thing happened today. Now I'm just angry. I asked Mom & Dad what the deal is. They explained this stoopid thing called Daylight Savings. They said that between this and the fact that the days are getting shorter due to it being winter, we cannot go to the dog park during the week. Now as you can imagine, I am outraged by this. I lover winter cause it is cold and we get snow but this is no good. What is a girl to do? I need to run and play. This just isn't fair. Who's stoopid idea was this Daylight Savings nonsense? When I find out, "I'm gonna bite him in the butt". Stoopid humans.

Well I promised in one of my first blogs, here is my most Evilest Pictures. I thought it would be appropriate for Howloween. Pretty scary, huh.

While the parents are away...

...the doggies will play! Harooo! You better believe it! So Mom and Dad touched down in the land of the delta blues yesterday afternoon, and it's been fun and mayhem ever since. Cousin Riley and Aunt Allison got here last night just in time for the doggie house party (sorry we didn't have time to send out invitations or you all would have been invited), which was pretty crazy. Even Lares was swinging from the chandelier!

Okay, so I exaggerate. But we dogs ARE having a good time, and we safely outnumber the humans, which is ALWAYS a wonderful thing. No dog park (we seem to be having a bit of a Nor'easter today), but we've gone on a couple good walks. The best things -- as I might have mentioned in a previous blog -- are the huge piles of leaves that are lining our street. Lares, Riley and I have plowed through every one of them, carefully marking our paths as we go. Riley almost got peed on at one point by Lar, but Auntie Allison's been on the lookout for that and quickly yanked him out of the way. Too bad!

Well, we're off on our afternoon walk before it starts to rain again. Hope you're all having a great weekend -- I'll touch back again soon!

Big licks,

Abandoned

Hey, Althea here, I just realized that I have blogged since Monday. You all must really be missing my words of wisdom and fun stories. If not just lie to me and tell me that you do.

So my Mom & Dad are abandoning me again this weekend. They are off to the land of Elvis, Memphis Tennessee. Actually they are not going to see Elvis (he isn't alive any more). They are going to the wedding of one of their bestest friends from college. They are leaving tomorrow and will not be back till Sunday evening. My Mom wants to go to see Graceland, the home of Elvis. Dad isn't too excited. Even though Dad has sideburns that rival The King's, he is not a fan. Mom says she isn't a big fan but she figures if they are there, they should check it out.

So while Mom & Dad are away, I get to hang with my Cousin Riley. You might remember that I mentioned him last time my parents went away for The Weekend. In case you've forgotten him, here is a picture of us playing during one of his visits to our house. He's lots of fun. Although I do get a bit angry when he messes with my toys. I like having him around cause we can play and have fun. Oddly Lares and the cats don't seem to enjoy his visits. Lares is just a big whiner and doesn't like to have any fun so he gets annoyed with Riley and I have fun in the house. The cats, Spencer and Delilah, pretty much stay away from Riley. I told Riley that they are cool but he is a little too curious about them and they don't know him well so they get a bit scared.

Well it looks like even though Mom & Dad are abandoning me, I'll still have some fun. I'll probably be too busy trying to stretch out Riley's face this weekend to blog so you probably will not here from me for a few days. So have a good weekend.

Fall and Squirrels

I sure do love the fall. In our neighborhood all the people put there leaves in big piles along the curb. I like to jump in them when we are on our walks. Lares like to pee in them. So if you know any little humans, don't let them play in the piles of leaves at the curb cause Lares may have peed on them. Actually Lares likes to pee on everything. When I first came to my furever home, Mom & Dad took us to the dog park. I was a bit scared so I stayed near Lares. Big mistake. The dumby lifted his leg and peed on my head. He has peed on our cousin Riley numerous times.

Last week at the dog park it was very windy. At one point the wind came really strong and picked up all the leaves on the ground and blew them around like a tornado. It was really cool. I tried to catch some but they were moving too fast. The doofus got all scare and started whining.

You know what I like most about fall? It means that winter and snow are not far off.

Now onto squirrels. There are a lot of them out and about lately. Dad says it is cause they are gathering up nuts for the winter. I like to try to chase them but Dad never lets me off my leash. He always says that I wouldn't be able to catch them anyway. One day I'll show him.

This morning on our walk, Dad was daydreaming about something (or was he regular dreaming since he wasn't really awake yet?). He almost didn't notice that I found a squirrel pancake on the side of the road. It was all flattened and smelled delicious, almost as good as that dead dear from a few weeks ago. But alas Dad woke up and pulled me away. I'll have to try again tomorrow as I'm sure he will have forgotten by then.

Unfortunately no pics today. Dad filled up the monthly limit on our flickr account.

Trip to the Dog Park

You've probably read mentions of "going to the dog park" on my blog. So I thought I would let you see what a trip to the dog park is like. Unfortunately Lares and I don't have a nice fenced in backyard like some of you lucky dogs. I'd be willing to give up stuffed toys for life if I could have the Ao4's Backyard. So we live for our trips to the Dog Park. Lares and I typically tell Dad when we are ready to go. This usually includes lots of howling and woooing. Sometimes I even have to wake Dad up from his nap so that we can go. Once he realizes that it is time to go, he gets our water and bowl (dog parking can be thirsty work) and puts his shoes on. During this time, Lares and I continually tell him to hurry up. Finally he is ready and hooks up our leashes and we head out to the car. Dad keeps the back seat folded down so we have lots of room in the back. Once in the car we head out.

Here's me looking at Mom taking my pic.

And a pic of me making sure Dad knows where he is going.

Here's me smiling because I'm so happy to be going to the Dog Park.

And here's the floppy eared doofus, he may look excited now but when he gets to the park, he'll just mope around as usual. IMG_1794

So once we're at the park, that's when the fun begins. Usually we go and do our business first, you know get that stuff out of the way. Sometimes it is fun to do it in the leaves so Dad has a hard time finding it, hehe. After we done with that, I'm off for some fun. It really depends on if any of my buddies are at the park. If not I typically run around like crazy by myself till someone shows up. Today I was lucky and my best friend, Sabrina showed up. Boy did we have a fun time wrestling. Dad tried to get some pics but we were moving around too much. Here's a couple of the better ones.

Eventually Mom gets cold and Lares starts whining about being hungry and we have to go home. So back in the car (with much less enthusiasm) and drive back home. Once home all I have to keep myself entertained is beating up the floppy eared doofus.

Hope you enjoyed this small look into my Trip to the Dog Park.
